Collective Embroidery

As an examination of the socially connective elements of textile based craft, Collective Embroidery invites the public to participate and add any sort of embroired shape to the suspended fabric.

At its core, the piece is an offering of a moment of slowness amidst the social hum of an opening night and dense silence of a visit to the gallery. It transforms the typical viewer-artwork relationship, inviting a different kind of present awareness lead by touch and mental focus. Each stitch becomes an artefact of an urge to express, of intrusive thoughts and intimate moments of hyper focus.

Collective Embroidery was featured in the group show RETREAT held at Raum Vollreinigung in Berlin.
