Riki Piki Tiki Ki Riki Ki Tiki

This sculpture, consisting of seven illustrated ceramic domino stones, depicts a player’s worst nightmare, a hand that is all doubles.The work metaphorizes the context and objectives of the game itself and juxtaposes this against elements referencing ABC-island culture and nature. Where on the one hand, my pluricultural background has made it harder for me to fit in and feel a sense of belonging growing up, it has also blessed me with a richness of experience and an abundant, compassionate and wide perspective on society and my position within it. This duality and the complex nuances within the double edged swordness of it all, is what I wanted to emulate with this work.
